Caring for Your Handmade Wool Accessories

Caring for Your Handmade Wool Accessories

Keep your embroidered treasures beautiful for years to come.

Each Jenny Krauss piece is a collaboration between art, tradition, and nature — crafted by hand with richly textured wool and detailed embroidery. Just as every belt, strap, or pouch is made with care, a little care from you helps preserve its color, softness, and shape for the long run. Here’s how to keep your handmade wool accessories looking their best.

Gentle Cleaning Goes a Long Way

Wool naturally resists dirt and odor, so washing isn’t necessary. If your item ever does need a refresh, gently spot clean with cold water and a mild soap or wool-safe detergent. Dab—don’t rub—and let it air dry flat, away from direct sunlight or heat. Avoid soaking or machine washing, which can cause the fibers to felt or shrink. Don't ever put your item in the dryer.

Mind the Embroidery

Each belt, pouch, and strap has a hand-embroidered design that is crafted to be both beautiful and sturdy—made to handle real wear while keeping its artistry intact. Gently brush away lint or dust with a soft cloth or lint roller using light pressure.

Store Thoughtfully

Proper storage keeps your wool accessories looking as good as the day you bought them. Choose a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent fading or moisture damage. If you’re hanging your belt, use the buckle to support its weight; if you’re tucking it away, keep it gently rolled or laid flat. With a little care, your belt will stay ready to wear season after season.

Repair, Don’t Replace

Because each piece is made to last, the very rare small snag or loose thread can often be mended. A local tailor can help bring your accessory back to life, preserving both its beauty and the story behind it.

A Legacy of Craftsmanship

Many of our customers have a collection of pieces they’ve kept through the years—each one softening with time but never losing its character. That’s the beauty of handmade, natural materials: they’re designed to age gracefully, not wear out. With just a bit of care, your item becomes part of your story—a lasting reminder of the hands, heritage, and artistry behind every stitch.
